PRO BONO

Despite the increased demands made on our lawyers’ time as a result of recent market pressures, Clifford Chance’s commitment to pro bono work has not diminished.

Although pro bono work is acknowledged through our lawyers’ appraisal system, those taking part in our schemes are not motivated by reward or recognition. They are passionate about justice – for many, it’s what drew them to a career in the law in the first place – and they get involved not only for the perspective it gives them on the world outside business law, but also for the opportunity to make a social impact.

For a Clifford Chance lawyer, pro bono work can vary from evenings spent working in local community drop-in legal clinics to secondments spent monitoring proceedings in major international human rights courts.
