PRO BONO

A Firm Commitment
Jackson Lewis is committed to providing pro bono representation in the various communities where we practice. We believe that, in a profession dedicated to achieving justice, it is our duty to help ensure all individuals have equal access to legal representation, regardless of their means. Pro bono activities also provide invaluable legal training and experience and foster a greater awareness of the diversity of people in the community, the problems they face, and the creative ways those problems can be addressed.

As a firm, we expect all of our attorneys to render at least fifty hours of pro bono legal services per year. A pro bono coordinator assists attorneys in each of our regional offices across the country in identifying pro bono projects. Our attorneys approach pro bono engagements with the same Jackson Lewis standards of professionalism and service as billable work. Jackson Lewis also encourages nonlegal community service, such as participation on non-profit boards.

Representative Matters
Jackson Lewis attorneys have handled a wide range of pro bono projects, ranging from representing individuals seeking political asylum in the United States to homeless veterans seeking disability benefits. We partner with our corporate clients to provide legal services and employment law training to public interest organizations. The firm also supports numerous organizations that provide pro bono services, including the Pro Bono Partnership, which provides non-profit organizations in Connecticut, New Jersey and New York with free, expert business legal advice they cannot otherwise afford.
